Board game club Leuven

A new board game association is budding in Leuven. This one is run by the KULEUVEN students and they aim to create a safe, inclusive and inexpensive environment to play board games in. They have an impressive collection of board games and would love to host special themed nights to introduce players to new or old classic games.

I have created a logo-suite for them to use in their marketing and communication. After a discussion with the client and their associates, I have come to the conclusion that the logo should be upfront about what it's about. Since board games as a whole can be really broad (think of cards, dice, meeples, tokens, custom pieces ...), I really wanted to keep this one simple. Using the most common pieces here as the logo icon, it conveys the idea of a broad group of games pretty well.

The font of the logo-type was a contentious point, there were many directions we could have gone into. At the end, we decided to go with a playful and chunky font that naturally came with a bit of a rougher texture. The font excited us so much, we also decided to add the same playfulness to the icon.
